Book Donations
We reply on the generosity of people making book donations to our bookshop. But we also sell only secondhand books in excellent condition (or occasionally in Very Good condition if it's a hard-to-find book).
So for any book donations, please note that we can't accept books in the following condition:
- water damaged or mouldy
- ripped, torn or missing pages
- magazines
- textbooks (unless they’re the newest editions)
- silverfish, spiders or bugs (once in the bookshop they can do a lot of damage!)
- foxed pages*
Foxing* is the yellowing/brown spots on the outer pages of books. These spots show the book's deterioration and can be caused by a number of things, including mould growth. This can spread to other books over time, so we need to be careful about what we put on the shelves. See the photos below for examples.
Our Street library is out the front for books we can't take, but please don't leave boxes and boxes for us to sort through- the idea is that the books keep moving and everyone can enjoy them. If you have a lot, please take them to the op shop, or bring a few at a time.
If you have a large donation, please contact us in advance so we can make sure we have room for it. Thank you!
