FAQ's

Do you buy books?

No, we don't buy books or offer store credit.

As we give 50% of our profits to charities, we rely on donations of books from our fantastic local community.

How much is postage?

We offer free postage anywhere in Australia for orders over $35 and a flat postage rate of $9.99 for orders under $35.

We also post to anywhere in NZ for a flat rate of $12.99.

Contact us if you're outside these two countries.

Who owns this bookshop?

We've been running this business since mid 2020 (yes we started during COVID-19 lockdowns!).

Catherine and Zac started the business and in 2024 Alex also became a part-owner and Bookshop Manager.

Find out more about our values here.

Do you just sell secondhand books?

Secondhand books are our core business, but we also offer a curated range of new books as well as gifts and jigsaw puzzles.

We also host pop-up businesses inside our bookshop, including Golden Days Hampers, and The Velvet Fog records, as well having a coffee machine, specialty tea, delicious treats and cold drinks including BullaBooch kombucha and Aunty's Ginger Tonic!

Why are you called "RoseyRavelston"?

Our name comes from two major characters (Rosemary Waterlow & Philip Ravelston) in the George Orwell novel "Keep the Aspidistra Flying", both of whom try their best to support an aspiring poet.

What's the condition of your secondhand books?

All our secondhand books are in Excellent condition (previously read with possibly a creased spine, folded pages or name inside cover etc.).

If you plan to buy a secondhand book as a gift for someone, check with us first so we can let you know the exact condition.

Can I run workshops and other events in the bookshop?

Yes! We're based inside a beautiful, heritage listed building that has been here since 1884!

We have two workshop spaces, a commercial kitchen and a large, lovely backyard.
