Mursal Azizi, an Afghan artist, graphic designer, and digital storyteller.

She was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and has recently migrated to Australia. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Fine Arts Faculty of Kabul University in 2015 and completed her Master’s degree in Digital Animation from the Sacred Heart School of Communication at Mahatma Gandhi University of India in 2020.

During her research and studies in the field of animation, she was driven by a passion to document the untold story of Afghan animation and to publish this book since there is no written history on Afghan Animation.

In order to accomplish this goal, she collected the required data personally from different places in Kabul such as the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Afghan Government, Afghan Film Organization, National Radio Television of Afghanistan, Kabul University Library, Fine Arts Faculty, Film and Advertisement Productions, Institut Francais d’Afghanistan (IFA) and the Academy of Art. She also interviewed 16 individuals involved in this area of research in Afghanistan.

These individuals include different government officials, Afghan film-festival holders, production directors and individual animators. She completed her research in 2020 and updating it in 2024. She published it as a book titled “The history and progress of animation in Afghanistan”.
