Each step is peppered with underlying threats and intrigue as anaesthetist, Claire, attempts to unravel the mystery surrounding her husband’s death and the events leading to the crash which killed him, whilst dealing with her own post-crash amnesia.

Characters are well-developed and interact effectively as Claire attempts to unravel the mystery and discover the background of the husband she thought she knew. There is an underlying menace in the secrets about herself and others that gradually becomes clear as Claire’s memory begins to return."
