Blackheath: Today from Yesterday

Blackheath is a village in the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia.

It started as a resting place for travellers and the village grew as a result of the opening of a railway station that is 121km along the western railway line from Sydney. At an altitude of 1065m, it is the highest station on that line, so the climate is much cooler than Sydney, with the result that tourism has always been the major industry in the area.
