Blue Mountains Wilderness

The Blue Mountains of New South Wales are represented in libraries, book collections and shops right across the world.

Their fair hills and chasms have been respected by mankind since the beginning of time. They have been of great value to each human population who has lived there.

Since 1788 they have been renowned by Europeans for ruggedness, impregnability and access to the grass plains, gold and the inland sea that was never found. They have been famous for their crisp air, mineral spas, clinics, kerosene, coal and the spectacular paths and walks built with civic fervour at the turn of the century.

Today their grandeur, their immense beauty, great precipices, mists, waterfalls, flowers and forests bring students and visitors from all over the world.

Photographer David Liddle has watched and wandered the tracks and byways of the Blue Mountains for years and gathered a master collection of photographs of this  singular environment.
