Major Geoffrey McLaughlin's letters to his family. They include letters to his sisters Ida and Beryl McLaughlin, early members of the Blue Mountains Historical Society, who offered their home "Tarella" as a meeting place for the Society.

In 1968 Beryl designed and financed a building to be a museum and in 1988 she bequeathed the cottage, the museum and the land to the Society.
