Imaginative Still Life

Moira Huntly presents a new and original approach to still life painting. She enthusiastically demonstrates that it is a fascinating subject in its own right, and not solely a vehicle for the art teacher to convey basic rules of drawing and painting.

The reader is led beyond the usual arrengement of flowers and fruit to the interesting and unusual in the kitchen and back yard, in the country and along the seashore; and encouragement is given to explore all the mediums available  ( from the traditional oils, watercolour and pastel to stencils and resist techniques).

The final chapter encourages trhe abstract treatment of still life forms as a basis for design and pattern making.
