Modern Australian Women: Paintings and Prints 1925-1945

Study of Australian women painters and printmakers from the 1920s to 1940s, published to accompany an exhibition, 'Modern Australian Women', held by the Art Gallery of South Australia from November 2000 to February 2001.

The majority of the text is the work of Jane Hylton, curator of the exhibition and former Curator of Australian Art for the Gallery. There are some additional texts by Gallery Director, Ron Radford. Individual artists examined include Margaret Preston, Thea Proctor, Grace Cossington Smith and Clarice Beckett.

Illustrated throughout with full-colour reproductions of artwork, many full-page. Includes endnotes, checklist of artworks, artist biographies, and bibliography and further reading list.
