With its blend of photographs of the house and garden of Pierre-Auguste Renoir today, and photographs of the artist at his easel, as well as reproductions of some of his paintings, this book celebrates the artist's life and work in this sanctuary in Les Collettes, near Cagnes-sur-Mer, France.

The garden overlooks the Mediterranean where Rodin spent the last years of his life. In this "paradise on earth" Renoir set up his easel and painted outdoors, or had flowers, fruit or vegetables brought to his studio.

The garden was an endless source of inspiration during those fruitful last years when he completed some 600 important paintings and embarked on a form of artistic expression new to him - sculpture.

The author, Derek Fell, dicscovered Renoir's garden at Les Collettes while working on a photographic assignment for tourism on the French Riviera.
