Geoff Goodfellow was born in Adelaide in 1949. He started writing late in 1982 when a severe back injury forced an early retirement from the building industry. He lived in Semaphore through the early 1970s and returned in 1990, vowing never to leave.

Geoff has toured Cuba, USA, Canada, UK, Europe and China as writer-in-residence at various universities.
