The Asian Collections

The Asian Collections at the Art Gallery of New South Wales are distinguished by the breadth of cultures they embrace. Including exquisite calligraphies, traditional and modern paintings, rare porcelains and rich textiles, and the extraordinary legacy of Buddhist art from Asia, the collections offer one of the largest pan-Asian displays of art in the southern hemisphere.

This book showcases nearly 500 works from the collections. Superbly illustrated throughout in full color, it provides a fascinating overview of the histories and traditions that constitute the rich cultural heritage of Asia, while also giving detailed entries for many of the more important works in the Gallery's Asian collection.
