The Demons Of Athens

An Australian returns to Athens in 2011, the city of his early life, to find the cherished scenes of his past have turned into Dante's Inferno. 

The collapse of the political structure of Greek society, the disintegration of traditional rituals of hospitality, the pernicious presence of neo-fascism, and the impact of austerity policies on everyday life are depicted here through the eyes of one who knows the city well but is bewildered by its transformation. 

This is a dark and demonic Athens that the tourist cannot penetrate and whose surface can at best be grazed by mass media.
