Dr. Rod Hackney is a leading community architect with his own practice in Macclesfield. He ended his term as President of the Royal Institute of British Architects in July 1989, and is currently President of the International Union of Architects, a united nations of ninety architectural institutes throughout the world, and chairman of a number of initiatives on the inner city. He has received numerous awards for his work in regenerating rundown inner-city areas and, in 1987, was appointed Special Professor in Architecture at the University of Nottingham.
