Sir Richard Burton, an English adventurer, set out many years ago to find the source of the Nile and to explore Africa, Asia, etc. He wasn't the first to reach the source of the Nile, but he was the first to introduce the magnificent erotic literature of the East to the West.
The Perfumed Garden tells about the Arabian erotica that existed behind the harem walls, and which inflamed the imagination and curiosity of the West.
This book, edited by Bret Norton, presents the pearls of various manuscripts about the croticism of the Arab nations. Sources include: The Perfumed Garden by the Sheik Nefsawi, translated by Richard Burton, The Garden of Pleasures by Al-Sayed Haroun Ibn Hussein Al-Makhzoumi, A Night in the Harem, The Arabian Nights, and other tales.
We have managed to find original Arabian artwork to which we have added illustrations describing the Arabian erotica through the eyes and imaginations of Western artists.
