Hit Men: A Tribute To League's Tough Guys

This is the story of rugby league's hard men, as told to the author by the toughest men to play the game.

It traces the evolution of these hard and ruthless footballers, from the brawling matches of the 1930's, through the violent days of the '60s and '70s, to the present. Tells of the giants of the game such as Stehr, Kelly, Ryan, Sattler, Boyd and Roach, who have become legends because of the way they played the game.

Alongside them are today's champions such as Lazarus, Geyer and Harragon.

Many recollections, both funny and sad, would be of interest to followers of the game. Includes several black and white photograph sections, and a bibliography.
